Our vision

At Joybird’s Leadership Academy, our vision is to cultivate confident readers, critical thinkers, and compassionate leaders who understand that their voice matters and their learning has purpose. We believe literacy is the foundation of leadership, and when children are given the tools to read deeply, write thoughtfully, and think independently, they are empowered to navigate the world with confidence and curiosity.

educational approach

Joybird’s Leadership Academy serves early learners who thrive with personalized instruction, hands-on learning, and a creative approach to education. We understand the impact of small class sizes and uphold the standard by maintaining a conservative teacher-student ratio.

We provide a structured yet engaging learning experience focused on literacy mastery, STEM exploration, and real-world projects.

Students leave with strong academic foundations, confidence, and leadership skills that prepare them for success in any learning environment.

  • Children learn best when they feel known and valued

  • Literacy unlocks access to all learning

  • Leadership can be nurtured at an early age

Meet our Founders

Joybird’s Leadership Academy was founded by educators and literacy advocates, Joyce R. Caraway, M.A. and Jessica Pope, M.Ed., who bring years of classroom experience, instructional leadership, and a deep commitment to student-centered learning.

With backgrounds spanning literacy development, curriculum design, and student support, we’ve spent our careers working with diverse learners and families. We have seen firsthand what works, what’s missing, and what children truly need to thrive.

We believe children learn best when education feels purposeful and personal. Our mission is rooted in developing confident readers, thoughtful leaders, and curious learners by creating learning experiences that honor each child’s strengths, voice, and potential.
